Ohio Economic Development Institute
The Ohio Economic Development Institute (OEDI) is a unique continuing education program designed to meet the specific needs of Ohio’s intermediate and advanced economic development professionals. Developed in partnership with JobsOhio and Ohio University Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, OEDI offers high quality, state-specific continuing education opportunities.
The curriculum is designed to prepare professionals and the organizations they serve to be successful and win in the highly competitive state and global economic environment and serves as the pathway for achieving the Ohio Certified Economic Developer (Ohio CED) credential.
The Institute offers:
- A clearly defined Ohio-focused curriculum which ensures time spent in the classroom can be immediately applied in the “real-world” work setting;
- Interactive course delivery models designed to engage participants and allow flexibility in course structure to ensure the best teaching methodologies for each subject; and
- A partnership that combines the strengths of three of the state’s top organizations to ensure outstanding course development and delivery.
As a program created by Ohio economic development experts for Ohio economic development professionals, OEDI offers a valuable Ohio-centric curriculum. Every course takes into consideration Ohio’s programs, laws, regulations and reflects an in-depth understanding of the specific challenges and opportunities in the various regions of our state. The OEDI curriculum aligns with the JobsOhio state economic development model to ensure the knowledge gained returns immediate value to your organization and community.
The interactive delivery model, rather than traditional lecture-style, helps ensure participants will leave with immediately applicable knowledge. With a focus on participant engagement and interaction, each course has been designed in such a way as to allow for complete flexibility in the delivery method. Course developers and instructors focus on the inclusion of the best teaching methodology for a given subject as well as the most up-to-date information. Depending on the course, that may be expert panels, small group discussions, guest speakers, and case studies.
The Institute offers the opportunity to connect with peers, understand the state’s economic development structure and establish important connections with JobsOhio. An outstanding faculty, comprised of experienced and accomplished economic development professionals, provide attendees with real world solutions to the challenges they face.
