Wyandot County Office of Economic Development & Wyandot County Regional Planning Commission
Upper Sandusky, Ohio | Full-time, in person | Salary commensurate with experience

Wyandot County is hiring an Executive Director to lead both its Office of Economic Development (WCOED) and its Regional Planning Commission (WCRPC). The role spans economic development, community development and regional planning, and works closely with local businesses, elected officials, developers, property owners, community organizations, and regional and state partners.

Responsibilities

  • Set strategic direction and manage day-to-day operations for WCOED and WCRPC.
  • Lead business retention, expansion, attraction and investment efforts countywide.
  • Serve as the go-to contact for businesses, developers, investors and property owners.
  • Pursue grants, incentives and other funding for economic and community development.
  • Build partnerships with local, regional, state and federal economic development organizations.
  • Represent Wyandot County at business, civic and professional events.
  • Provide planning assistance to local governments and the Regional Planning Commission.
  • Administer the county’s Subdivision Regulations and Flood Damage Prevention Regulations.
  • Review development applications and advise officials, developers and the public.
  • Manage work programs, budgets, grants and contracts.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for boards, commissions and community stakeholders.

Qualifications (preferred)

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, economic development, planning or a related field.
  • Three or more years of experience in economic, business or community development, regional planning or a related field.
  • Experience with public speaking, community engagement, project management, grants, incentives or local government.
  • AICP, CEcD or OhioCED certification is highly preferred but not required.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. A valid Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required, and regular travel throughout the county is expected. The office is in the Wyandot County Courthouse.
