Real estate deals near Dayton International Airport and at Cargill in Sidney got a big boost Monday.
The Dayton-Montgomery County Port Authority Board of Trustees voted unanimously Monday to boost both business expansions, approving deals that will shield construction projects at both sites from state and local sales taxes.
The trustees approved a capital lease financial structure to exempt from sales taxes a $175 million expansion at the Cargill refining plant in Sidney, a project expected to add 12 jobs to a workforce of 293 people.

In 2017, NASA spent more than $2.7 billion contracting dollars with small businesses, 16.5 percent of its total contracting budget. NASA is looking to expand its small business contracting even further this summer, seeking out new partnerships with a wide range of goods and services providers based in Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Kentucky at a two-day conference.

Third Wave Water in Cedarville, Ohio, has grown its domestic and international market since opening shop in 2016. With the help of the Small Business Development Center Export Assistance Network, the company has been able to reach new customers for its at-home mineral packet used to brew better coffee. Third Wave Water gained the services of an export-oriented intern through a program offered by the Export Assistance Network and the Ohio Development Services Agency, and the owners recently returned from a successful trade mission to China with their SBDC Export Assistance Advisor Kathy Marshalek.
