Community & Economic Development Assistant Director

The City of Middletown is seeking a self-motivated professional to serve as Community & Economic Development Assistant Director. This newly created position is responsible for assisting the Community & Economic Development Director in overseeing department operations.  The Department is comprised of the following Divisions: Building Inspections & Permitting, Economic Development, Planning & Zoning, Airport and Code Enforcement & Nuisance Abatement. This department also oversees all housing and urban development programs administered by the City, including the Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP), and Home Opportunities Made Equal Program (HOME). Additionally, it manages the City’s transit system in coordination with the Butler County Regional Transit Authority (BCRTA). Qualifications: A four-year accredited college or university degree with major coursework in planning, engineering, economic development, or architecture is required. A minimum of six years of professional experience in municipal planning, a related field, or any equivalent combination of training and experience is required. A minimum of two years of supervisor experience is required. This position is also responsible for directly overseeing the Code Enforcement division.  Candidates should have a good understanding of economic development incentive programs, marketing, and event coordination.
