Development Specialist – City of Fairfield

The City of Fairfield, Ohio, a well-established, progressive city located just north of Cincinnati, is seeking applicants for the position of Development Specialist. Fairfield has a robust and diversified business community of more than 1,200 businesses. The city is looking to enhance economic development and redevelopment through the creation of this new position. The successful candidate will assist the city in supporting new and existing businesses, revitalizing commercial districts and underutilized sites, seeking outside funding sources to improve community infrastructure and amenities, and communicating information to the community and prospective employers.

The Development Specialist will be assigned duties including but not limited to creating marketing and communication materials, maintaining a database of commercial and industrial properties, responding to requests from site selectors and real estate professionals, monitoring city tax and grant incentive programs, compilation of grant and other funding applications, and administering special projects.

The candidate will be required to regularly interact with and provide high quality customer service to local business leaders. The Development Specialist will be housed in the Development Services Department and be required to form relationships and coordinate closely with other city departments and partner government and economic development agencies.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Business Administration, Real Estate or related field. Prior experience with business operations, economic development, community development, and/or local government preferred. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, good visual and verbal presentation skills, and good analytical skills. Experience with GIS mapping and/or graphic design programs is a plus. Valid driver’s license required.

This position offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package. Starting salary range is $55,000 – $70,000/year DOQ.
