Workforce Collaborative Receives Economic Development Award from Mid-America Economic Development Council
The Clinton County Workforce Collaborative (Collaborative) was recognized by the Mid-America Economic Development Council at the 2023 Mid-America Competitiveness Conference, held November 29-December 1, in Indianapolis. The Collaborative received the Workforce & Talent (Large Division) Award in acknowledgement of the rapidity and effectiveness of the projects and initiatives brought forward by the Collaborative’s participating members. The panel of judges especially noted the ability of the Collaborative to mobilize the necessary resources in a rural county.
Interns Help Expand Sales to International Markets
The Ohio Export Internship Program matches businesses interested in growing exports with highly motivated college students who have taken export-focused coursework. The Ohio Department of Development offers participating small to medium-sized businesses a 50 percent reimbursement for the wages of the intern.
Higher Ed Controversy Brewing
In the Senate, S.B. 83 (Cirino) would overhaul Ohio’s higher education system. The legislation requires Ohio’s universities and colleges to guarantee intellectual diversity in the classroom and among faculty; free speech protections; no required diversity equity or inclusion courses or training for students; and full syllabus transparency.

Transportation Budget Vote Today; Operating Budget Still in House
The $13.5 billion transportation budget, HB 23, is scheduled for floor votes in both the Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio Senate today after being reported by the Conference Committee on HB 23 Wednesday evening. The transportation budget must be signed into law by March 31 so both chambers must now move quickly to meet the deadline.
