OEDA Announces 2024 Economic Development Basic & Core Courses

The Ohio Economic Development Institute (OEDI) has announced the 2024 schedule of economic development Basic and Core Courses.
Ohio BASIC Economic Development Course:
Taking place April 29 – May 2, 2024 in Dublin, Ohio, the Ohio Basic Economic Development Course is THE intensive training experience for economic development practitioners, community leaders, local government officials, and others committed to building healthy economies for their communities. The course is appropriate both for people who are new to the economic development profession as well as those more experienced who are seeking a refresher on basic practices and principles.
The Basic Course covers essential basic skills necessary for a successful economic development professional. The Course is taught by experienced practitioners from Ohio and the nation. Once again, Ice Miller LLC is the Ohio Basic Economic Development Course Sponsor. The course is also certified for credits from the International Economic Development Council and the American Planning Association. The course will take place at the Embassy Suites Dublin Columbus.
Ohio Economic Development CORE Courses:
OEDI will offer five Core Courses that cover the necessary skills for economic development professionals, including:
- Business Retention and Expansion, May 9 – 10, 2024
- Finance and Incentives: June 13 – 14, 2024
- Real Estate Development: August 15 – 16, 2024
- Workforce and Talent: October 17 – 18, 2024
- Site Development and Site Selection: December 5 – 6, 2024
Each core course is an intensive two-day, in person course taught by experienced local, state, and national economic development practitioners, including representatives from JobsOhio, the Ohio Department of Development, and the Regional Economic Development Organizations. Courses are focused on practical case studies, team activities, and dialogue, with a wide range of best practice economic developers in each field. Training is focused on the practice of economic development in Ohio and its communities.

OEDI is the professional development program for the Ohio Economic Development Association. OEDA’s professional development courses are possible because of the generous and continuing support of JobsOhio. OEDA’s partner is the Ohio University Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service.
Completing the Core courses is a prerequisite to pursue OEDA’s Ohio Certified Economic Developer Certification (OhioCED) program. 73 Ohio practitioners have received their OhioCED designation.
