Columbus – Nine cities and one county are showing signs of financial stress for fiscal year 2016, with nearly two-thirds of Ohio’s county governments showing an increase in the number of “critical” or “cautionary” warnings, according to the second annual “Financial Health Indicators” report.
Sharonville Mayor Kevin Hardman has been named American City & County’s 2017 municipal leader of the year. Hardman has served in elected office in Sharonville since 2000, and has been Mayor since 2013.
Under Hardman’s leadership the city has seen a 25% increase in income tax collection-from $21.5 million in 2013 to a projected $27 million in 2017. This is due to numerous projects which have created over 2000+ new jobs since 2013. As an objective benchmark of progressive leadership and fiscal responsibility, the city’s general fund is debt free, a feat few municipalities are able to boast.
