Wapakoneta, Ohio Seeks Next Economic Development Director

Wapakoneta, a prosperous and growing community in western Ohio, has begun the search for its next Executive Director of the Wapakoneta Area Economic Development Council (WAEDC). Located on Interstate 75 about midway between Dayton and Toledo, Wapakoneta is a community of nearly 10,000 and the location of the 760-acre West Central Ohio Industrial Center (WCOIC).

The WCOIC is one of the nation’s largest, triple-certified industrial parks. It was established in 2010 as one of Ohio’s largest and first certified Job Ready Sites. It is now home to ten successful companies. The State of Ohio and City of Wapakoneta have invested nearly $8 million in industrial-capacity utilities, direct mainline rail access, and completed site analytics. Since its creation, the WCOIC has also been certified as one of CSX Transportation’s first CSX Select Sites. In addition, Wapakoneta was recently certified by the Transatlantic Business Investment Council as Ohio’s first Foreign Direct Investment Qualified Community.

Economic Development Specialist – HCDC

Administers various economic development programs and multiple projects.  Must be detail-oriented, with strong oral and written communication skills and computer skills.  Knowledge of tax incentive programs important including enterprise zone and community reinvestment areas.  Provide research on certain contracts including demographics, statistics, maps and reports.  Knowledge of and experience with CAGIS a plus.  Experience (2-5) years, and Bachelors degree in a related field required.  Valid Ohio driver’s license necessary.  Some travel may be required.  Salary DOQ. 

Economic Development Manager – City of Fairfield, Ohio

The City of Fairfield, Ohio, a well-established, progressive city located just north of Cincinnati, is seeking applicants for the position of Economic Development Manager.  The successful candidate will be the City’s primary lead on new business recruitment and existing business retention and expansion.  This person will maintain a database of commercial and industrial prospects, develop marketing campaigns and material, develop content for various newsletters and social media accounts, and create and maintain partnerships with federal, state and county development officials and other business support organizations. 

Part-time Community Development Specialist – Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association

The Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association has an immediate opening for a part-time Community Development Specialist to assist with the Economic/Community Development and Transportation programs. Applicants should have a two-year associates degree and/or prior experience with city/regional planning, public administration, or related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
