Defiance County Economic Development Director

Defiance County in Ohio (population 38,000) is seeking a professional for Economic Development Director to drive economic growth within the county. Under the general supervision of the Board of Directors of the Community Improvement Corporation, this position performs a variety of routine and complex administrative, technical, and professional work in the preparation and implementation of economic development plans, programs, and services. The ultimate goal of the Director’s activities is to expand the economic base within the community by pursuing growth opportunities with existing companies and attracting new investment from outside the community.

Director – Community and Economic Development – Geauga County

Under general direction from the Executive Director of Development, is responsible for directing the comprehensive Community Economic Development Department (CED) including the following programs; CBDG, grant funded projects, revolving loan funds and fair housing ensuring regulatory compliance regarding the department.  Manages administrative tasks in the areas of economic development, fair housing and community development activities; Performs related duties as required.

Mobility Manager – Brooke-Hancock-Jefferson Metropolitan Planning Commission – Brooke & Hancock County, WV / Jefferson County, OH

The project purpose is to establish a Mobility Management Program for the BHJ Region. Mobility Management moves beyond traditional fixed route public transportation services as an innovative approach for managing and delivering a network of diverse transportation services, public and private, to satisfy consumer needs. The primary objective is to improve access to mobility for all citizens through an increased awareness of the BHJ Region’s transportation needs, coordination of transportation options to meet those needs, and integrate those options by integrating into local public policy through planning and partnerships.

Assistant Director Center for Regional Development – Bowling Green State University

The assistant director supports and promotes the Center for Regional Development’s (CRD) mission of improving the lives of residents of northwest Ohio through economic and community development.   The position assists the Senior Director with both short-term and long-term strategic planning and decision-making by identifying and providing needed information and professional advice.  The position also requires implementing the Senior Director’s plans and decisions and/or procuring necessary resources.  In doing so, the assistant director coordinates the conception, selection, design and completion and/or delivery of data and analysis, economic impact analysis, local and regional strategic planning, applied research, program evaluation, and other technical assistance projects undertaken by CRD, and is responsible for the implementation, coordination, and management of those activities. The assistant director is solely responsible for carrying out the majority of off campus program evaluation services to communities and social service/nonprofit organizations.

Vice-President – Area Development Foundation, Inc. – Mount Vernon, Knox County, Ohio

The Area Development Foundation, Inc. (the “Foundation”) was created in the mid-1950s by forward-thinking community leaders to develop the Mount Vernon Enterprise Complex. In the 1980s, the Foundation grew its focus to encompass all Knox County, and today stands as the central clearinghouse for economic development activities in Knox County. This involves responsibilities from negotiating public-private development deals to problem-solving and government relations-type work for employers in the county.
