Position Title: Director of Business Development
Reports To: CEO of Allen Economic Development Group
Purpose:
To serve the mission of Allen Economic Development Group. To work with the staff of AEDG, those in the Business Community, and those in the Public Sector to foster economic growth, capital investment and job creation. To assist in developing relationships with and to be an advocate for those in the business sector. To work with and support the AEDG team and community leaders to foster economic development opportunities.

General Responsibilities of all AEDG Staff:
- Diligently fulfill the mission of AEDG.
- Work with the AEDG team to develop and execute an annual Strategic Plan.
- Develop and give an annual Goal and Vision statement to the CEO of AEDG.
- Report and be accountable to the appropriate person of leadership.
- Provide accountability assessments for those working on assignments that you are responsible.
- Coordinate activities in your areas of focus with the team and resolve conflicts when necessary.
- Meet at least weekly with AEDG Staff to communicate and coordinate efforts.
- Identify and develop roles of responsibility with the AEDG Staff.
- When assignments cross-over with other AEDG staff members or the team as a whole work diligently with others to achieve success.
- Adhere to guidelines in the employee manual and evaluate performance yearly with Supervisor.
Position Qualifications:
Experience:
- Experience in the area of business/economic/community development.
- Experience in working in a team setting.
- Experience or knowledge of working in the private and the public sectors.
- Experience and oversight of leadership and development projects.
- Knowledge of the Greater Lima Region.
Education:
- Post High School education.
- Perferably a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university in Business Administration, Marketing, Planning or closely related field, AND three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience in Economic Development OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess at the time of application and maintain a valid Ohio Driver’s License.
Skills and Abilities:
- Relational, able to work with others, must be collaborative in nature.
- Shows ability to see assignments to completion and success.
- Working knowledge of local Governmental structure and roles.
- Able to present in a group setting or a larger body of people.
- Has a working ability with data and graphics.
- Has a working ability with excel, power point, word and other office systems.
- Knowledge of technological and computerized processes necessary.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Be an advocate and support for Business Development projects for Allen County Businesses.
2. Support the President of AEDG
Work closely with the President to execute the AEDG Mission.
Work with the President on the AEDG priorities and the annual plan.
3. BR & E’s
Meet and work with the present Business Community focusing on retention and expansion opportunities.
Work with the AEDG staff to manage the business portfolio of existing businesses.
Enter projects and communicate with the staff on projects in Growth Zone.
Follow-up as necessary on BR & E calls.
4. Business Development and Attraction
Work with Businesses interested in locating in Allen County.
Work with Site Selectors, RGP, Jobs Ohio, Ohio Department of Development, Utility companies and other sources to identify/pursue attraction projects.
5. Site/Inventory of Properties
Pursue Options on land for development purposes.
Maintain inventory of properties in the Allen County that are available for development.
Work with team to put sites in Zoom Prospector.
Identify properties that could be placed on Jobs Ohio Sites.
Work with property owners and Real Estate brokers and agents to develop properties.
6. Economic and Community Development
Build relationships with others in Community Development such as Downtown Lima, and County/City
development personnel.
Work with developing a broader Community development plan for Lima, Bluffton, Delphos, and
Spencerville.
Be the lead from AEDG on identified economic development and community development projects
7. Collateral Financing Programs
Promote and coordinate the work of AEDG with various private and public financing resources.
Work with the Toledo Port Authority with the Energy District/PACE Program and other financing tools
Promote and coordinate AEDG’s D’Arcy Loan Program.
8. Executive Director of the Port Authority of Allen County (PAAC)
Advance, promote, and execute the work of the PAAC.
Oversee monthly and special meetings.
Work with Administrative Assistant to assure record/bookwork upkeep.
Work with Rea & Associates to keep accurate accounting procedures.
9. Incentives
Know the incentives that are available to the Business Community.
Communicate incentives to the Business Community.
10. Serve on Boards as needed.
Position Requirements & Guidelines:
Term: Indefinite and at the discretion of the AEDG CEO and the AEDG Board
Time Commitment: Full-time energy and focus.
