ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
NATURE OF THE WORK
The Economic Development Manager at the City of Springfield plays a pivotal role in fostering economic growth and vitality within the community. This position operates within the City Manager’s Office, leading a dynamic team and managing key initiatives that contribute to the city’s economic development goals. This position provides leadership to the Economic Development team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. It also manages the Minority Business Coordinator, overseeing their activities and ensuring the effective execution of the city’s Minority Business Service Program.

- Oversee and manage tax incentive programs, including the Enterprise Zone and Community Reinvestment Area initiatives.
- Facilitate business retention and expansion meetings, developing and implementing strategies to support the growth of existing businesses within the community.
- Formulate, review, and recommend economic development policies that align with the city’s strategic objectives.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices, conducting research as required to inform policy decisions.
- Direct the city’s Minority Business Service Program, working to enhance opportunities for minority-owned businesses and fostering diversity and inclusion in economic development activities.
- Conduct in-depth research on economic development policies, practices, and trends, providing insights to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including businesses, community organizations, and government agencies, to strengthen partnerships and support overall economic development efforts.
- Assist in business attraction efforts by leveraging knowledge of the local business landscape and economic incentives to attract new businesses to the community.
