Economic Development Director – City of Middletown

Middletown, Ohio, located along Interstate 75 halfway between Cincinnati and Dayton with a population of more than 50,000, is seeking a visionary Economic Development Director. The Director will report to the Assistant City Manager and work closely with the City of Middletown Port Authority. Position is responsible for overseeing the implementation of programs and plans related to the economic revitalization of the city; developing and leading specific job growth strategies in retention and attraction; serving  as liaison for various community development projects; responsible for city workforce development efforts; and overseeing the small business development assistance program.

Director of Economic Development – Barberton Community Foundation

The Director of Economic Development is responsible for the development, administration, measurement, and planning of existing and future economic development programs for the Foundation. This full-time position works closely with the Foundation  team, City of Barberton officials, Barberton City School District, and other area economic development stakeholders and agencies, in addition to the Foundation team liaison to the board’s Economic Development Committee. The position is responsible for providing guidance to individuals and companies to establish, locate, expand, or enhance their business operations within the Barberton community with a special emphasis on downtown and Foundation owned property. This position is expected to work with Team NEO, JobsOhio, Development Finance Authority of Summit County (DFA), as well as with local stakeholders to fulfill the mission of the Foundation. This position will identify and pursue county, state, and federal grant dollars for economic development projects. In addition to providing research and ownership of the planning and coordination of economic development projects for the Foundation, this position will use their expertise as a convener and facilitator. This position reports to the Executive Director of the Foundation.

Transportation Budget Vote Today; Operating Budget Still in House

The $13.5 billion transportation budget, HB 23, is scheduled for floor votes in both the Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio Senate today after being reported by the Conference Committee on HB 23 Wednesday evening. The transportation budget must be signed into law by March 31 so both chambers must now move quickly to meet the deadline.
