At its annual Workforce Summit in early October, ACT Inc. designated Lucas County as a Certified Work Ready Community. In the ceremony, the Lucas County Department of Planning and Development was recognized for its remarkable achievement in preparing the community to meet workforce needs of modern employers. Planning and Development staff, along with representatives of OhioMeansJobs Lucas County, attended the summit to receive the award.

Ohio’s economy is strong. Since 2011, 557,600 new private-sector jobs have been created in Ohio, and since the start of this year, Ohio private-sector jobs are growing 39 percent faster than those in the nation as a whole. To maintain its momentum, however, Ohio’s economy requires a workforce of hard-working and highly skilled individuals.

The Port launched “Purpose + Progress,” its six-year impact report (2012 – 2017) on October 1, 2018 at Memorial Hall with more than 300 partners and supporters in attendance. The celebration kicked off with a welcome from President of the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners Todd Portune and City of Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley.

Senate President Larry Obhof of Medina has appointed City of Medina Economic Development Director Kimberly Marshall to the Ohio Public Works Commission.
The Public Works Commission provides financing for local public infrastructure improvements through both the State Capital Improvement Program (SCIP) and the Local Transportation Improvement Program (LTIP). SCIP is a grant/loan program for roads, bridges, water supply, wastewater treatment, storm water collection and solid waste disposal. LTIP is a grant program for roads and bridges only.
