Community Development Specialist I/II – Montgomery County

Community Development Specialist I:
Basic professional level in community and economic development occupation under general supervision requiring working knowledge of community planning &/or development in order to oversee projects awarded to political jurisdictions having internal staff and assists in the planning and administration of projects funded by Montgomery County. 

Community Development Specialist II:
Specialized professional level in community & economic development occupation under general supervision of CED Operations Manager and/or the Economic Development and Planning Manager requiring considerable knowledge of advanced federal policies and rules and the methods and requirements of community/economic development planning and development programs and services in order to administer complex assignments and perform coordination, planning and analysis, and administration of projects funded by Montgomery County as outlined in rank 1 job duties 50% of the time and also must perform rank 2 and rank 3 job duties.

RFP by Eastgate Regional Council of Governments for an Engineering Analysis

The Eastgate Region consisting of Ashtabula, Mahoning, and Trumbull Counties (“Eastgate”), along with Columbiana County (collectively the “Counties”) is home to over 620,000 people of which over 112,157 do not have internet access.

Given the importance of digital equity and a commitment to eliminating the digital divide in the region, the Eastgate Regional Council of Governments issued a Request for Proposals in September 2020, seeking the services of a consultant or firm to perform a Regional Broadband Feasibility Study (the “Feasibility Study”) focused on providing enhanced and reliable internet service to rural areas lacking appropriate coverage, as well as urban centers that require increased speed and access.

Municipal Bridge Replacement Program Applications Open

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) administers Ohio’s Municipal Bridge Program. In April, the state announced a large increase in the annual funding for this program, meaning that the program should have significantly more funding available for the next five years. This program allocates up to $2 million of federal funding per project to certain eligible entities (including municipalities, metroparks and regional transit authorities) seeking to replace, repair or demolish eligible bridges.

Erie County Port Authority & Economic Development Corporation Announce $6 Million Towards the Redevelopment of Former KBI Building

Sandusky, Perkins Twp – 2509 Hayes LLC. in partnership with the Erie County Economic Development Corporation & the Erie County Port Authority have been awarded a 6,017,444-million-dollar grant from the Ohio Department of Development for the remediation of 2509 Hayes Ave – the large industrial site in Perkins Township known locally as the former KBI site.
