Buckeye Hills Regional Council recently celebrated Economic Development Week from May 8 to May 12, 2023. This annual event, initiated by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), acknowledges the significant contributions made by professional economic developers in creating vibrant and livable communities.
In its analysis of nearly 1,900 cities across the country by Fortune Magazine, West Chester Township ranked 13th as the Best Place to Live for Families in the U.S. The winners of the best places to live were communities scoring high on assets including healthcare, education and resources. Fortune factors in data like affordability, walkability, and a community’s well-being or connectedness where people can easily link to resources in neighboring towns and surrounding areas.
$1.5 Billion was included for public infrastructure spending to encourage economic development projects across the state of Ohio through the recently enacted state operating budget. These state programs include supporting the development of mega-sites tied to large scale industrial growth, funding critical water and sewer infrastructure, and supporting the development of other public infrastructure.
The Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association (OMEGA) is currently accepting resumes for a new Executive Director. OMEGA serves ten counties (Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Coshocton, Guernsey, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson, Muskingum, and Tuscarawas Counties)
in the eastern Appalachian region of Ohio and is a Local Development District as recognized by the Appalachian Regional Commission, an Economic Development District as recognized by the Economic Development Administration, and a Regional Transportation Planning
Organization for eight of the ten counties as designated by the Governor of Ohio.
North Central Electric Cooperative: The Key Accounts and Economic Development Specialist will assist in developing and coordinating the Cooperative’s Key Account programs to maximize the opportunities available for mutually successful business relationships.
