The Role
The Existing Industry Program Coordinator is an essential member of the One Columbus team. The primary focus of the role is to assist in the implementation of our organization’s economic development strategy by serving existing businesses and providing them with industry-leading support. Understanding the challenges and opportunities of our companies is imperative in enhancing the Columbus Region’s success.

There are certain activities that you may find yourself undertaking on a daily basis: market, sector and company research, coordinating with community partners and JobsOhio to execute on the Business Retention & Expansion (BR&E) strategy, connecting companies to resources and new partnerships. You’ll strongly collaborate with the internal One Columbus team, working across all departments, including marketing, workforce, and research.

Reports to Existing Industry Program Manager
Essential duties and responsibilities

• Execute and deliver on the One Columbus business retention and expansion strategy as directed by the Existing Industries Program Manager.
• Collaborate with the One Columbus research team (when necessary) in preparation for meetings across several sectors throughout the 11 counties.
• Effectively communicate, plan and coordinate with local and state partners both before and after each meeting.
• Able to identify opportunities or risks, communicate impactful recommendations and make connections to the One Columbus project management team (when applicable).
• Prepare professional responses and market proposals when necessary.
• Assist in drawing analysis from business retention activity for reporting and presentations.
• Involvement in the process of evaluating the eligibility and management of qualifying inclusion grant program companies.
• Create, track, and maintain all meeting takeaways and follow-up activity in both Columbus Region and JobsOhio Salesforce systems.
• Foster and build relationships with key partners, investors, and stakeholders throughout the 11-county region.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a background in planning, development, real estate, business, or related field.
• Economic development experience preferred.
• Excellent research and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
• A self-starter with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
• Professionalism and discretion in handling highly confidential matters is a requirement of this position.
• The ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally is essential.
• Proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office programs, Adobe Acrobat, and Salesforce.

Travel and Schedule
• Some travel driving will be required around the Columbus Region.
• Must be available to work occasional off-hours: events and meetings will involve some early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
• Must be available during standard business hours.
• May be required to work more than 8 hours during a workday as deadlines demand.
