Transportation Planner/GIS Coordinator
The Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association has an immediate opening for a Transportation Planner/GIS Coordinator. A Bachelor’s degree in City & Regional Planning, Geography, Civil Engineering with a focus in transportation, or related field and a minimum of two years demonstrated GIS is required. Graduate degrees may count towards years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities include development and revisions to regional transportation plans, transportation grant writing, and providing technical assistance to local communities regarding: roadway safety audits and programs, traffic counts, asset management, and active transportation systems. Responsibilities also include participation in statewide planning activities, meetings with federal, state and local officials; leading public outreach efforts; and other duties as assigned. Proficiency in geographic information systems (ArcGIS 10.6 or equivalent) and strong oral and written communication skills are required. Knowledge of Ohio transportation systems and community/regional planning preferred. Regional travel and evening meetings will be regularly required. This is a full-time 40-hour per week position and salary is based upon education and experience. The successful candidate must possess a current, valid Ohio driver’s license and be willing to attend evening meetings.
