Ohio’s Joint Economic Development District (JEDD) program is the major state program that enables collaboration among municipalities and townships to encourage investment and job creation. Over the past few years, the JEDD program has undergone a number of significant changes that impact on its practical use. This webinar, conducted in partnership with Bricker & Eckler, will focus on 1) the basic criteria and rules for the JEDD program; 2) case studies of how JEDD has been used to promote economic development; 3) best practices in how to establish JEDDs that are successful; and 4) lessons learned over the years.

Fiscal Impact Analysis (FIA) is an invaluable tool to understand the fiscal impact of development on local government finances. FIA can be a complex process that is difficult for policy makers and citizens to comprehend. In this session, you will hear from policy makers and practitioners who have used FIA as a decision-making tool to evaluate the direct and indirect costs of development for communities. This hands-on online course will provide a basic understanding of how Fiscal Impact Analysis is conducted, how Fiscal Impact Analysis is used to understand the costs of development, land use and economic development projects and real-world case studies that show how FIA is used.
In the course, you will hear from case studies practitioners who are currently using FIA to master the benefit / cost of development, from TischlerBise one of the leading FIA firms in the nation doing extensive work in Ohio, and from OKI about their interactive FIA model available to communities in their region.
The course will carry AICP and OhioCED credit.
